Paula Broadwell

Paula Broadwell graduated with academic and fitness honors from West Point and went on to a professional military career in military intelligence, counterterrorism and counterinsurgency on active duty and in the reserves for a total of 18 years of service. Her experience includes assignments with U.S. and foreign military, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies. She has had residence, study abroad, military deployment and traveled in over 60 countries around the globe.

Paula has earned degrees and honors from the University of Denver/Korbel School of International Studies, Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, and is presently a PhD candidate at the University of London. She also studied Arabic in Jordan. Paula also ran a counter-terrorism research center at Fletcher University and has been a research associate at Harvard’s Center for Public Leadership, during which time she published a New York Times best-selling book. She has also been a national security commentator on television, including CNN, Fox, NBC and other major networks, and in print media including Washington Post, New York Times, POLITICO, and other major journal publications.

Beyond her military and academic pursuits, Paula is a proven leader in public community service. She has served on various executive boards that seek to empower women around the globe, or to help veterans and wounded warriors with transition assistance. Paula spends approximately 30 hours per week doing pro- bono consulting and development activities through her LLC, Equipe Broadwell, for charitable organizations in our community and across the nation.

Paula is married to Dr. Scott Broadwell, a radiologist in Charlotte.  The couple has two young sons and live in the Dilworth neighborhood section of the city.
