Co-Founder

Mike is a 1990 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point (NY) and earned his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Georgia State University in Atlanta in 2001. He spent seven years on active duty as an Infantry officer in the US Army highlighted by a company command in the historic 82nd Airborne Division. Mike has held operations and sales positions for prominent companies over a period of nearly 20 years since leaving the military. Newly married in August 2014, Mike’s short honeymoon consisted of moving to Charlotte after living nearly 15 years in Atlanta to join his bride, Janelle Tuck Lenhart and two step-sons, Jim and Hill.  He currently works full-time as a quality assurance manager to a prominent banking organization’s emerging technology efforts in Charlotte.

In December 2006, Mike Lenhart founded The Getting2Tri Foundation (G2T) with the goal of integrating individuals with physical disabilities into their local communities. G2T uses the sports’ disciplines of swimming, cycling, running, racing wheelchair, and hand-cycle as the vehicles for accomplishing this mission. The organization is 100% volunteer-based.

In his role as president of Getting2Tri, Mike executes the foundation’s vision of extending its reach to a world-wide audience through annual national paratriathlete training camps, online education, and the connecting of disabled individuals with skilled resources in their local communities. Lastly, Mike is the current chairman of the USA Paratriathlon Committee, a subordinate group to the Board of Directors, USA Triathlon. As chairman, Mike leads the continued focus of furthering the sport of paratriathlon through recruitment, education, and outreach, particularly at grass-roots, community levels.

Mike is a self-described, endurance sports junkie.  He is a finisher of a dozen marathon races and 4 Ironman triathlons.  Mike says his fifth and final Ironman will be in 2017 when he turns 50.  Janelle adds that this final one will be somewhere “exotic and fun“!
