Profile of Charlotte, NC

Charlotte is one of the fastest cities growing in the Southeast. We have four seasons of reasonable weather in which to enjoy the great outdoors and we are only two hours from the mountains and four hours from most beaches. We have an international airport, several professional and amateur sports teams, a sports-friendly city center with outdoor parks and bike lanes, and an amazing US National Whitewater Center that hosts many events for individuals and groups. In addition, we have recently adopted the Bike Share program and are expanding our greenways. Over 35 miles of greenway trails provide recreation, transportation, fitness, and economic benefits for Charlotteans to enjoy.

This is an exciting time to live in Charlotte. Our goal at the Active Charlotte Alliance is to join forces across the community to help our residents increase their fitness, health, happiness, and overall quality of life.

Through key partnerships in Charlotte and working in alignment with with our Governor and NC public health efforts, we will better help residents take advantage of the fitness, sport and health resources that are available no matter what age, ability, race or income. In addition, we will be advocates for hosting free and discounted events for Charlotteans including the disabled, military veterans, and seniors.
